The notifications for JEE Main 2013 Cutoff have not yet been released and will be made available by the time of result declaration. The exam organizing bodies will decide a minimum exam score which will be termed as JEE Main 2013 Cutoff and will be used to delimit the number of candidates included in merit list.

Candidates whose exam score is above or equal to this score will be included in the final merit list and qualify the exam and rest will be disqualified. As per the announcements done earlier, the JEE Main 2013 Cutoff will also decide the candidates who will be allowed to take JEE Advanced exam.

Only top 1.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main will be allowed to sit for JEE Advanced given that they are in the top 20 percentile window of their School Boards too. These candidates will be chosen from every category and thus every category will have a separate JEE Main 2013 Cutoff.

The Cutoff for JEE Main 2013 will be the limiting factor to decide the number of candidates who will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2013 which will be the entry level exam for admission in IITs. The rank corresponding to cutoff score will be called as the cutoff rank.

This rank corresponding to the Cutoff for JEE Main 2013 will be different for different category candidates and will be made available on the official website of exam as soon as the results are out. The candidates are advised to stay in constant touch with the official website to be updated about the latest news and announcements.

The Cutoff for JEE Main 2013 will also consider the candidates’ marks of Class XII. These marks will be first normalized and then used for merit calculation. The relaxation for the candidates of reserved categories will also be considered for the generation of final merit list.

As the exam pattern and syllabus has been kept close to AIEEE the difference in JEE Main 2013 Cutoff and last year’s cutoff marks vs rank will not be too high.

JEE Main 2013 Cutoff:

  • The CBSE will publish the merit lists of students who have scored the minimum qualifying marks or more.
  • This minimum qualifying score wil  be the JEE Main 2013 cutoff
  • Unlike other exams which are single phased, JEE Main 2013 is the first stage of the two staged common examination
  • Students appearing for the exam belong to different boards with different systems for marking and such.
  • Using normalization as per the pre determined formula, the marks of the qualifying exam namely Class 12 will be calculated to be treated on the same level.
  • JEE Main 2013 scores and the normalized board score will be combined in the ratio 60:40 to arrive at the JEE Main 2013cutoff for the merit list
  • All the different boards have been asked to submit the marks before June 10 to enable the CBSE to publish the merit list
  • The JEE Main 2013 cutoff will accommodate the fact that the admissions based on these will be spread across institutes in various states as well as the centrally funded institutes.
